David's Garden Seeds D3229, A Bluebonnet with an "Attitude" for the 21st Century. The original plant was found in the wild near San Antonio, Texas. Texas Maroon Bluebonnets usually cannot survive in areas that have flat terrain or soils with poor drainage. Well-drained areas such as a 6 to 8 inch raised flower bed, sloping hillsides or half wooden barrels are excellent areas to sow your Texas Maroon Bluebonnets to increase success. WHEN AND WHERE TO PLANT: Select a location that is well-drained and receives a minimum of 8 hours of direct sunlight per day. For best results sow seed in the fall months; September 1 thru December 1. Loosen soil with rake or hoe. Smooth surface to remove any clumps or debris. Broadcast seed over the prepared area (1 ounce covers 75 sq. ft.). Roll or press the seed into the soil no deeper than 1/8". Some of the seed will remain visible. Keep the soil moist until plants begin to grow. CARE: Requires little care. Water only as necessary.
